I met Steve at NextWave. During the many years at Dot and TI, I have learned much from him. He was definitely excited about engineering and was always willing to stay late and give a helping hand.
What struck me most about Steve was his admonition that life is a lot more than work. During many lunches with him over the years, he would worry about how Kyle and Stephanie would grow up, anticipate his next vacation with Kathy, share his sadness about losing his mother, and be excited about his father's latest gadgets. Twenty years from now, this is what I will remember.
He was always open to trying something new, going to different countries, and trying different foods... though he always like his meat and potato.

Steve has always stuck out in my mind as really great friend. A couple of really nice memories I have include back before Edwin and I were married when Steve came over to help Edwin celebrate his birthday with a smoothy party (see picture), and when we went with him and Kyle to watch a movie on opening day. I was always thrilled to see him and his wide warm smile whether at Dot or TI or out and about. Steve, you made an impression on us and we won't forget it. Thank you.

We were too young to get to each others house when we met. out in the garage with our fathers working on something or other that needed fixing. moms car, sisters bike, our motorcycles, our cars. later on we rode our bikes to each others house either to get into trouble riding in the vacant fields behind his house, or the storm drains under clairmont with our bicycles(i myself was too claustrophobic for all that) or playing and getting into trouble on the not yet open 805 freeway(1970????) I can recall being 13 ft below the street surface digging a hole handing the full bucket of dirt to each other to empty out above us,trying to reach the sewer hook up while helping him and his dad build their home overlooking mission bay. where the heck is that pipe thing. the carbide rocks that when added to a simple element would let off a stink you couldnt believe. cleared the entire auditorim at Hale jr high. we would go places and do things that are now illeagel or immoral or just politically incorrect. our dads would take us to the desert several times a year and we would tear up all the 'sierra clubs' sacred territory. with "hey watch me" or a "I can do that better" we'd scare the h*ll out of each other.faster better farther(further too) we did end up attending different high schools and then as wives and children came into the picture we drifted our seperate ways. we would run into each other at times and we would say hi to each other through different friends or different friends bachelor parties(eek) but we did remain friends. through the years we did regain a friendship that almost every nite, (bonko, movies, girls nite out, etc) we seemed to get together and hang out working in the garage on something that needed fixing, moms car, sisters bike, our cars, sound familair ? steve loved drag racing i think it was the outrageous statistics that really wowed him. he was so happy to take a group of friends along with his dad, spyder, and a few of his friends to the Pamona raceway and it was the happiest day for steve to take his dad and his dads friends to the track he was really proud of his dad. all through it we raised our kids we became better dads and steve helped me understand real love. he helped me understand its not what you get , have, need , or want, its all about who you are to who you love. he had a true love for his daughter for his son for his mom and dad and first and foremost his beautiful wife Kathy. I can recall him telling how he used to get up early and drive to O.B. to go and wait within eyesight of the intersection where Kathy used to thumb to work just to be the one that got the chance to give her a ride to work sometimes he won and sometimes he got beat to it by a quicker car or two. I think now they call that stalking. He truly loves his family and now he'll be able to watch over them all from his seat next to God. he'll always be the first there if Kathy needs a ride and wont ever get beat out again. a guardian angel for us all, no matter how long it was that you knew steve, you knew he was genuinely a happy camper. always a smile for all and always a open spot in his herat if you needed a friend Steve was a genius and now he can be the consultant of all consultants. if you need a question answered just place it the hands of steve and I know he will come up with the answer.one more thing that i'll never understand..how do you go from a san diego native and resident and become a raider fan, i'll never understand that one. but this next season if you listen close enough you'll be able to hear, for one season only mind you ,i'm gonnna be one of them a raider fan only one reason for my friend steve. Im relly gonna miss my friend. GO RAIDERS. (cant believe i just said that)God Speed Steve Schossow. much love your brother ron
